Are any of ye actually Irish?? I can read ye are from Irish decent. Im from the south and my husband is from the north, this is bullshit. Enough lives have been destroyed. Enough is enough, and by the way we're both RC, and some of our best friends are COI, All everyone wants is peace and that has come from the majority of people ive spoken to, north and south.

Pogues aren't exclusive to Ireland in fact the writer and the producer (joe strummer) are English. ALSO, many of the best songs are about suffering of all people being English, American, Australian, Irish, Scottish. To think that the pogues are purely an Irish band is pure arrogance and stupidity, in fact quite insulting to what they represent. If they only cared about Ireland why would they cover Whaltzing Matilida? an Australian folk song about WW1 against the Ottomans.

shane macgowan is actually from england, he was born in kent, his mother was irish. p.s the waltzing matilda is an irish folk song about a petty thief who is sent from irland to australia and then drafted to war, australia have sort of borrowed that, mainly cos they have no culture. but it was written in ireland

Can't see what the hate is all about when you consider that thousands of years ago all the people of the British Isles (Great Britain, Ireland, Isle of Man, etc.,) were Celtic. Things only started going wrong when the English arrived 1500 years ago!

Simply read the comments section to be transported back to the 1980s.

    Or the 1680s.

    Or the 1080s.

    Either date works.

Whaltzing Matilida is a song about an Australian hobo in the outback. The song your thinking about is called The Bands Played Whaltzing Matilida. Whaltzing Matilida is the song their referring to in the song. Both are great songs though.
