@wmdude102086 She replied she`d lost faith in God and only wanted to live . So , The Master bit the young woman and gave her the name Darla which is Gaelic for " dear one " . Her birthname is unknown as even she`s long since forgotten it .

Her father likely abused her and eventually sold her on the streets of London as a prostitute . Though her beauty gave her great business , it came at a heavy cost . She contracted syphilis for which there was no cure at the time . The Master came to her with the offer of immortality and asked if she had any objections as a Catholic .
