Although this was just the ninth episode, this is actually the final installment of "Emerald City." The 10th and final show in the series was "The Making of Emerald City."
Again, I've reduced a 28-minute show down to just under 10 minutes. This was without a doubt our best show, I think. We really started to figure out how to do things right about the time I ran out of time and money. The acting was solid, Leland had taught me how to direct by this point, and I was having a blast in the editing booth.
There were lots of scenes that were written but didn't get filmed -- Nighttrain delivering Mary Lou Primm's baby in the back of a VW Bus, Bobby Boner interviewing Boy George, the Monkees-style chase scene in the park featuring Joey Ramone. I had enough material for 15 shows, but alas, I was broke and the school term was ending so a lot of my actors were leaving town. But we were able to tie up some of the loose ends and wrap the show in a reasonably intelligent way, I think.
I want to thank everyone who put their time and creative energy into this project. And now that it's on the Web, it will NEVER go away! I hope most of you will agree that's a good thing.
Once you've seen the Web-friendly versions of the first nine episodes, or even a part of any one of them, I think you'll want to check out the abbreviated version of "The Making of Emerald City."
