The Galaxies IV played at the New York World's Fair in 1964 and 1965. After being invited to perform at the New Jersey Pavilion by a New Jersey state official who heard them play at a local mall during a Battle of the Bands competition they began over 80 standing-room-only performances at various pavilions throughout the fair for the next two summers. Robert Moses, a powerful New York leader and politician, noted their popularity and honored them by declaring one day in the summer of 1965 "Galaxies IV Day". The band was presented a plaque honoring them for their record-breaking attendances.
