Red Bull's driver Brian Vickers take the pole for the Auto Club 500 at Fontana, California.
Auto Club 500. Qualifying

2 Johnson Chevy
3 McMurray Ford
4 Ku.Busch Dodge
5 Biffle Ford
15 Montoya Chevy
I think I need to make the point clearer. If NASCAR is true to their word and will punish those who advance position below the yellow line, Vickers really had no need to try to block. NASCAR would have taken it away anyways. Knowing some people who do PR stuff in NASCAR, though, I think the point is that most of the drivers feel as though he will get a free pass. That was likely why Vickers tried to block. Regardless, a pointless wreck that took contenders out.

In all honesty that wreck was pointless on both ends. Junior wasn't supposed to be trying to pass below the yellow line. I guess Vickers just figured NASCAR would let Junior get away with it (as he does most everything else) and figured he'd at least try to protect his position. Vickers just got punted.
