  • I miss my goats. I switched back to cattle and while I love calves (and beef) there is something so sweet about kids. Thanks for sharing this video.

  • @HedgeLiving I love grass feed beef...yum but lately the store beef looks sick. You have enough room for both get a few dairy goats. The kids are so much fun, I can't wait for the rest of the does to kid!!! They look like they are going to bust poor things.

  • With two kids on the doe are you still able to get milk off of her? Been thinking about a milk goat but don’t know that much about them. Grew up around cows, but don’t have the space for a milk cow now. A goat seems to fit in better with my small critter operation. Plus goat cheese is better…..

  • @houndsman03 Dairy goats YES! We let the kids nurse and after they are weaned, we will start milking. They have mini alpines that produce about the same amount of milk. We have 2 saanen does and the milk is rich, you could even make butter from the milk, very simple to make goat cheese. The tog milk has a little after taste and we mix the milk together to get rid of the after taste. This will be our first year to see how alpine goat milk taste. Goat milk has been proven to rebuild your bones.

  • @MrsNewAmericaNow How old are the kids when you wean them? Then from a good milker how much do you get off her a day and how long do you keep her in milk production before you breed her back, I take it you milk twice a day like a cow? Also will the milk be good over the winter on a diet of grass hay? Or do the milk goats need something a little better for feed? Thanks

  • @houndsman03 Wean round 4-6wks old. We milk in the evening only, turns out to be about the same amount of milk. We milked our tog for over a yr, the production slows down a little in the winter about 2lit. They get goat minerals(as needed), selenium blocks(as needed), alfalfa pellets(as needed), one cup 16% dairy pellets twice a day (limit last 2months months of pregnancy or the babies can get to big) , hay and pasture(walks to graze). They also get sweet feed and tree branches for a treat.

  • @houndsman03 I would rather raise goats than pigs or rabbits. We will be harvesting 90% of the rabbits and all the pigs this fall. You seem to get more for your time and cost with goats. The goats are very sweet and easy to handle.

  • @MrsNewAmericaNow your not kidding ... thats why the mom looked so out of place..lol.. Atleast she can say "you look like your father." ;-}

  • @JRSKICK1 The mother is a tog and the father was alpine, seems the alpine traits were more dominate they look pure alpine.

  • Very nice... what breed?
