A manual transmission allows more torque, and horsepower to be delivered, it gives the driver full control over how he/she decelerates, and allows each speed to be used to its full extent
one example, I bought a pickup recently (manual) and decided to go through the manual; the max. load for the box is 2000lb with auto; with manual it's 3500
many other of the figures looked the same that was the most significant

There is a reason the flappy paddle transmissions are used on F1 race cars and most high end exotics that produce a LOT of HP and TQ. It's because the can shift faster and more consistently than any human ever could. They allow all the torque and horse power to be used. and all of the gears to be used and selected to full extent. You an an ignorant moron go drive your truck off a cliff. Douche bag.

Ah thats true, but i just find something more endearing about this whole electronic paddle shift system it kinda shows that your ride is just that extra notch more exotic. Theres just something thats always captured me about owning a car with paddleshifters that can do the shifting for you quickly and easily with just the movement of a finger.

As an ardent proponent of the CVT all that shifting of gears, acceleration and deceleration of the engine, and hand coming of of the wheel is so needless.

The car's performance (in every regard) would be greatly enhanced if they would just give up in the antiquated idea of conventional fixed gear ratios.

So i ask, when will car makers come out of the dark ages?

My 67 Chevy II has an L-48 350 ci small block mated to a Nissan sourced toroidal CVT and so far i have yet to be beaten by anyone at PIR's Saturday night drags.

As for main stream racing goes. You don't see them in use because you can't manually operate them.

My engine and transmission are fully electronically controlled. An array torque sensor allows the system to monitor the force applied to the wheels and adjusts the engine rpm/transmission ratios the best possible acceleration.
