My dad served on this while it was in dry dock in Norfolk Virginia. He was a senior chief petty officer. He retired after 24 years in 2001. This type of stuff makes me wanna join even sooner!

I served onboard from 79 -83, and yes in the Persian Gulf for the year of 1980 during the hostage taking. Greatest time of my life working the flight deck as Fuels QA Super. God Bless all who have and are srving on the greatest ship afloat.
