New Year's Eve - Kampala, Uganda 1999/2000

Picture the setting: We were about to enter the new millennium. Everyone in the west, especially the US, was nervously anticipating what might be the end of the world. Can you remember that? Wasn't it one of the biggest hypes in history?
Laid out on the lawn at this home in Kampala, Uganda, were torches tracing out "2000". When the clock had counted down, these young orphans went wild and showed just how uninhibited their African spirits were. You'll see something you've never seen before as you watch them dance and then grab the torches and dance with them on their heads. Have you ever seen such unbridled joy? And this from children who are supposed to be poor !
