@Angemon38 Did you notice that the girls you mention are latina? Danaya and Ximena, the the interviews didn't have voices any more dramatic than Leila. This is miss Universe. It's suppose to make you less ignorant to the world. IN some countries its cute to see latina passion sexy but in others a subtle calm lady like is preferred. Also, I don't like Danaya cause she poses nude for magazines and only wants fame. IN any case none the girls you mentioned showed much more personality than Leila.

It's about nationalism, a Sociology study would tell. Pageants are the few ways of Latin American countries appear and win in the international scenario. They have a big audience there, and the media earn a lot with pageants. Pageants also have a vain and sexist side which envolves ego, so it can bring the worse of the people. That’s why some are so fanatics, being also induced to be so, like cattle.

@Angemon38 Yes, I am in fact a simple mortal. What are you? What emotions should she be showing other than happiness? You want her to cry or scream? Once again, you applied no explanation to your opinion. No examples. Which miss universe winner gave you emotions that you were looking for? What were these emotions. I NEVER said you were racist at any point. That's all you! I don't think a girl has to be over the top or an emotional wreck to be Miss Universe. I like a calm and happy winner.

You don't just have an opinion, you prove it and right now your opinion has no logical bearing. You think she's boring as opposed to what? What should she be? Who do you think is not boring? Remember Lady Di and the landmine victims, only imagine a life story in her country. She comes from a country which was in a war until few years ago, they are not taught to spontaneously act like a cheerleader. They are also happy, but the way of expressing is different, perhaps more genuine. These are strong women who carry lots of responsabilities since early.

@Angemon38 You are simply being a hater. She is ALWAYS smiling. Isn't that what she is suppose to do? She's not an actor. I appears that she is focused on speaking English and just getting her thought out. Also, how can you judge someone by the tone of their voice. That's how God made it. Many contestants who speak English as a second language sounded similar. I don't understand why she has to speak all crazy to be interesting. How exactly should she sound? I think your just hating for no reason
