  • when was this show done was it in the late 80s does anybody know?

  • @girlygirl850 1985-86.

  • not that i dont like tom kennedy, i think he's great, but y wasnt barker hosting the night time

  • For the life of me, I can't remember where I read this, but I recall reading that Bob refused to do a 5-per-week nighttime version because he thought it was overkill.

  • nice to have seen this show when i was 10 or so but then again wasn't this tom kennedy at his worst?????? imho he was all right but he definitely didn't fill the shoes of the great bob barker. :)

  • Sadly, when asked, Tom expresses a similar opinion about his own performance, but I have to disagree, I think he did a fantastic job of making the show his own.

  • I was 10 years old and I remember this and enjoyed watching it right after the 6pm news. It was the best 30 minutes on. It should have lasted longer than a year. It was great.

  • I want to say right now that I think Tom did a great job hosting TPiR back in the day.

Drew may be the new host of the show, but in my opinion, if Drew had said no, Tom should have gotten it.

  • That's my mom at 3:10 jumping for joy <3

  • @AdamNedeff That reason would be a logical explanation as to why Bob Barker didn't host it.

  • @Noveltooner Bob Barker did often steal the thunder from his TPIR contestants, that I must agree on.

  • @crinos43, I don't think Tom would've done it, Tom is now 80 and was 75 at the time, he's retired.

  • That 3 Strikes board looks so tiny!

  • One interesting thought: Jim waited seemingly over two decades after the original format was guest-hosted by his brother Jack for this format. Earlier in the decade the Narz Boys flipped positions in hosting "Password Plus" when one was a guest.

  • Ah, the Marc Breslow era, brought a lot of magic to the show. Arguably the greatest director in the history of TPIR. Paul Alter was a great director himself, very basic style. Tom Kennedy and Bill Cullen were great hosts, Drew Carey is doing well. Bob Barker is debatable. The 3 Strikes in the Marc Breslow was always exciting to see.

  • Wow. 3 Strikes looks wierd to me with only 4 digits
