They did mention that companies have been using multiple monitors for a long time now, but over the past few years people have increased the number they use in their houses. Which is true. Though it's probably been happening over the past 4-5 years. I just noticed also that this video was released 2008.

There are a variety of uses that require additional monitors in order to be highly productive. Video editing, audio editing, web design, programming, stock trading, camera monitoring, high profile blogging, etc.

People could just run Linux and use extra desktop spaces; no need to bother with 3 monitors
