You may want to look at that ruling. "Fair use" allows limited use of copyrighted material without acquiring permission from the rights holders. Not use of whole songs or images.
I like the videos but I think the rules need to be better written.

They showed fire I read in the contest rules that fire was not to be shown. Also copyright infringement is kind of a no no.It was a good video but I don't think it was a first place video. Do you?

They did not use fire themselves. Images of fire from other sources are allowable. The point is to make sure no one gets hurt. Copyrighted music can be used. Recent court case (August 2008) allowed for the use of copyrighted material on YouTube (and similar video hosting sites), under the "fair use" clause.
