We tried to sell our parsonage for someone to move offsite to make room for our new church building. Since we'd have to demolish it anyway, we donated it to the local fire department to train with before demolition and excavation. The more realistic training these heroes have, the safer they are, and the safer we are.

By my count, there were six fire companies that participated in the training. Since this is a rural fire, there were four tankers running relay to the nearest hydrant, a 1/2 mile up the road.

Our church is Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greenville, Wisconsin. (WELS- Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod)

  • Thanks for your comments and concerns. The building had to be removed because the new church was to be located in that spot. We did try for months to sell the house and have the structure moved -even for dirt cheap - but there were no takers. Fortunately, for more than a year prior to razing, the house was rented at a fair and merciful rate to a family transitioning into the neighborhood.

    Cheers, ~Brian

  • With all due respect to the church and to the firefighters that was a building that could have housed a homeless family
