A National Railways of Zimbabwe 15A class Garratt brings a goods train into Victoria Falls and then leaves with a train for Bulawayo. This was taken in July 1993. Shot on VHS C and recently transfered to digital so it is not the best quality.

  • Beyer Garrets are quite the Unquie didn't some railways in England have these giants pulling coal trains??

  • A few were used in England, but there was not much need for them there. Information on where they operated is readily available on the net. I did a quick search and was surprised at the number of countries that had Garratts.

  • Nice video, to bad they are not a type well received here in the US. Do you recall what gauge that RR is?

  • Railways in Zimbabwe are 3' 6" gauge.

  • @iowarails Yes it seems you are right but why not Metre gauge as in Kenya railways? or "The Good old EAR&H? Cecil Rhodes railway obviously did not go though Rhodesia or Zimbabwe?

  • @duxberry1958 I was there in 1965 to 68 shame I never took any photos of the engines, I was too small. Do you remember 8 shots per film but we still have our memories. I love steam hence.
