Minimalism in art is all about breaking things down into their most basic elements. Some artists spend years refining their art down to a single brush stroke.

  • You have inspired me to create my next masterpiece! I have decided to glue dead rats to a board, forming a circle; they will be chasing their tails. I shall call this masterpiece 'Modern Art Critics'. The stench will add an extra dimension to the viewing experience....

  • @hermitcrabbot - you'd be giving modern art critics way too much credit and devoting too much of your time to creating a homage. They deserve nothing less than a blank wall so they can write what they want and still remain as relevant as always. ;-)

I wasn't considering my masterpiece as 'homage' to the critics. It would be more like an indictment.

However, you've given me another vision of a true 'homage' for them: a toilet bolted to the wall, with

a round mirror inserted in the hole facing the viewer. I will call it 'Flush Twice'.

  • @hermitcrabbot - Why do I get the feeling the critics would praise such a work and call it 'Art'? LOL ;-)

  • LOL! Man, your humor is so dry! Love it! I almost thought you were serious. But then I remembered who you were. lol. ~You could totally sell that for like 25g easily :P

I'm completely sold on minimalism. ;)

  • @Coadytnp This is one of my favorite of my art comedy videos. It still surprises me when occasionally someone doesn't get the humor. Unfortunately I don't know nearly enough about art to make money from minimalism. You have to really focussed and spend a lot of time thinking about how to do less and still be meaningful. Painting in blue probably has one too many brush strokes to be taken seriously as minimalist art. ;-)

  • Yes, green would be nice. ;)

  • @CatBlackArt - Hmmm... it would say this is a company that recogizes quality (and is prepared to pay top dollar for it) along with the essence of getting the job done with the least amount of fuss. After all it only takes one brush stroke to turn a blank canvas into a painting... at least that's what I'd tell them... everyone else would think 'Who the **** thought that was worthy of paying actual money for?!! The artist must be a genius!' Either way its a win for me and my bank account LOL

  • This video made me smile. He's right...galleries do love that kind of stuff.

  • @essejpatterson - It's just a joke. You watch one video and make a broad assessment of my understanding of art?
