Lanny Sherwin sings "You Can't Cross the Ocean (By Staring at the Water)" from his "Meltdown" CD of children's songs. www.SandmanRecords.com

LYRICS:
Chorus: You can't cross the ocean by staring at the water,
You can't heal a heart by closing the door,
You can't change the world by just thinking that you oughta,
You gotta take that first step and then take one more.

Verse 1: This world could use a helping hand,
That's something everyone can understand.
From Africa to New Orleans,
There's people everywhere in need.
What can we do? Well, I know this much is true:

Chorus

Verse 2: Superman is not who we need.
It's gonna take the strength of children who believe
That the world is still a playground we can share
Where grownups learn to take their turn and always play fair.
What a world this could be from sea to shining sea.

Chorus

  • Love the textured feel of the video; it's really very pretty, and all the images that pop up on the screen are very apt, I thought. I especially loved the one with the heart and sunset ( 1:15 ), as well as the ending to the video, with the seagull flying over the waters. Very lovely and serene!

Also I find the lyrics really well written. It's got an excellent message that I think everyone could learn from. Really lovely! What a superb song. :) <3

  • Enjoyed this great song & message Lanny. Love Bryan's Sax!
