Europe's "Leading Role in the World" & Freedom

Much of Europe (the UK and others) are leaders of freedom in our world. As such, we must be vigilant, and ensure they remain truly free. We must also acknowledge that, though cooperation with Europe is something we must do for the world's prosperity, we should also remember to uphold the rights and freedoms we know to be true, from which the US was built upon.

Using the term "hate-speech" has been (and is currently being used) as a carte blanche to stifle free speech. One must be very careful about confusing strong dissent from incitement of violence. In my opinion, much of Europe is confusing "incitement of tension in the community" (a *good* thing) to "incitement of violence". The greatest times of social change were not heralded by "community harmony" and polite, mild words.

The loss of freedom is often made possible by a slow progression; as best explained by one of the founding fathers:
"Since the general civilization of mankind, I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of freedoms of the people by gradual and silent encroachment of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."

When Obama says "understand the leadership of Europe" you have to go deeper; economically, militarily, religiously, culturally and so on, not just on the freedom of speech problem, because each country has got its on flaws. If we would associate those flaws to each ally country imagine where will get to.
