Tow Truck winch pulls the truck back onto it's wheels. Heading down Park Avenue, which is a steep hill, this dump truck full of dirt had brake failure. He ran right through a stop sign, clipped a curb, flipped over onto the driver's side and slid sideways down the street smack into a garage. The driver walked away with only minor injuries. Emergency crews pulled him out of the small back window of his crunched cab. Photo stills at the end are from the Orange County Register Online.

  • if you havent taken a cdl test AND PASSED dont comment on the legitimacy of the crash. because you have no fucking idea how air brakes work (or dont work). and are just speculating as to what could have caused the accident.

  • @Lonewolf6565 No cussing.

  • That would be an air tank and if it were a "gas tank" it would have had diesel fuel in it that wouldn't explode brotha.

  • @stackzmajormusic Originally I spelled winch incorrectly and spelled it wench, but I corrected it. They thought that was pretty funny.

  • @billyfever Lol, A winch is a hydraulic cable used to pull cars on tow trucks. It was what was used to tip the truck on it's wheels. They were not trying to say like "tow truck bitch" or anything like that.

  • @Lonewolf6565 I know how train airbrakes work... which is pretty much the opposite of how truck air brakes work...

  • i feel his pain cdl driver for 19 years.i was 14,000 feet above sea level and had to go down the mountain so i understand i drove 3 gear all the way down and i was in the clouds.4 was just to fast for me.i rather the engine blow then try to stop that bad boy.

  • I Drive A Truck Myself,And Belive Me Thats Not A Fun Ride.Thank God The Driver Is Still With Us,You Can Replace The Truck But You Can't Replace His Life

  • Then your an idiot....

  • To Trip123567 and DieselDog8912 I appreciate your comments, and although i never went into, As much detail as your good self's, I think we are all Trying to say, that with a heavy laden vehicle and a steep long down hill decent, that brake fad or brake part failure can not be ruled out, as what may have caused this accident, other then bad driving

  • @TheNameIsBEATTIE actually if it was a smart driver he would of been using his jake brake most rig drivers know this and usually do not ride the brakes in the vehicle because of this plus the drums are not steel they are cast iron and if they did expand away the brake shoes would actually run them selves closer to the drum usually brake fade is the result of heat causing a smooth surface on the drum wich will not allow the shoes to get any friction or they crack and fall apart
