Spot on. Congress just plays for the next election and the average person is far too stupid/ignorant to even understand space travel, not to mention its massive positive effects. I think the overall culture has changed in this country too. People are more greedy and selfish. There's little sense of collectivism or national pride. People just want to hoard as much money as possible, so taxing them to pay for space exploration (which they don't understand) is unpopular.

The voice of Neil is amazingly fit, but the music+his voice are the reasons I am getting goosebumps. However, this is, in some strange way, sad. Neil deGrasse Tyson is a great mind with the skill to talk. He has the ability to make old dreams come alive for people.

If they don't have a planet that is habitable for their children and their children's children to inhabit because of choices those with this power, have employed, assuming they do care about something other then their own well being, then they might just might be open to hearing what cold hard scientific facts,which is quickly becoming common knowledge, thanks to evolution and the internet, about how LITTLE time we have,how narrow our survival will be if do not cap off our current trajectory.

Space exploration is empowering. It charges the imagination with hope of a better tomorrow ..for everyone! It will mess up the plans of a few chosen extremely powerful people. Historically anyone with that much power is usually remiss to give it up. Having that much power and that many keys to every city is like telling a junky they need to quit. no. They will die first ans take everyone with them. They are imploding on themselves and no argument will stop them except: Science
