Paul Ehrlich, author of the acclaimed book, The Dominant Animal, offers his thoughts on the perils of population growth.

"The whole purpose of The Dominant Animal was to provide an overview of the things that every human being ought to know by the time they are an adult....that is, where we came from--and where we're going."

  • If you are Spiritual, i.e. believe that Man is not a useless passion—believe that your children are worth more than a burlap sack of kittens, then you cannot lower yourself to the miserable condition of maggots & nematodes: atheism; then you cannot admire snakes the likes of Bertrand Russell, Oprah Winfrey, Prince Phillip & his adopted son Charles, Jacques Cousteau, Bill Gates, plain Jane Goodall, Paul Ehrlich & Ted Turner who preach for State-mandated eugenism.

  • It still amazes me how so many people are still so emotionally immature they cannot comprehend that they are in effect an ecological parasite. Oh well, they're not going to be able to keep their heads in the sand for much longer, as "the plan" is being implemented :D That will give them something to whinge about.

  • @castigirl999 No he is not. The current food production can feed everybody and more. The problem is capitalism which causes irrational and uneven distribution of recxsources. Profit first, huamn need not at all.

  • @1StoryImageFigure1 Dr. Ehrlich's numbers may have been off, but the idea behind them wasn't. The bottom line of the Population Bomb was that the population is increasing before the means of sustenance are increased. That still holds true, even forty years later. Look to India, which is on track to become the most populous country. Even after the Green Rev, over 150 million Indians are chronically undernourished. Dr. Ehrlich is bringing light to this problem.

  • @castigirl999 The joke is that people do not realise that these overpopulation doomsayers have been wrong everytime.

  • @1StoryImageFigure1 I recently interviewed Dr. Ehrlich and can safely say that the thoughts on which his predictions were based on are certainty valid. Between the time the Population Bomb was written and now, the number of hungry people on the planet has more than doubled. By 2045, the world's population will reach 9 billion. The joke is people not realizing how serious overpopulation is.

Source: I've been researching agricultural sustainability and food policy for the past 3 months.

  • Paul Ehrlich is a joke. People really need to stop listening to doomsday prophets.

  • Why do the people who think the earth needs less people..... well.... off themselves for the good of the planet?

  • @acavideo : Paul Ehrlich predicted wide-scale starvation for the U.S. by the 1980's in his stellar tome: "The End of Affluence." "Dr." Ehrlich supports W.H.O.'s tireless efforts to sterilize 3rd-World women through serums and subcutaneous implants.

  • Paul Ehrlich is an elitist who subscribes to the sentiments of the Georgia Guide Stones: to reduce the population to one-half billion. That means that 90% of us MUST be exterminated.
