  • Reds so handsome and the way he looks at you with the lunge whip like "I know you love me and your never going to hit with that thing so maybe I'll just stand around a bit longer" lol :)

  • @Juniorsmummy Thank you! We love him too and he is quite the character!

  • We have a horse in the barn with Stringhalt, and I must say, you've done a wonderful job with him! The horse in our barn has had it for years, and even with diet/nutritional management, it's still very obvious to see that he has SH. I was just wondering if you'd looked into Hypericum for help with the nerve damage? We've been giving it to horse in the barn, and have noticed improvement.

  • @HickChick14

Well, dang, why didn't *I* think of that? I have long suspected that *Red, due to his early life, had long term nerve damage but never even thought of Hypericum even though I used it as I healed from an accident I had (slapping forehead and muttering 'duh') I think I'll begin to add it to *Red's feed. How much do you give?

  • LOL, no *Red is far from neglected, although he's apt to tell you he doesn't get near enough treats!

  • Yes, he is, thanks for asking! *Red will always have "something" going on as he was severely neglected for the first couple of years of his life AND he was badly injured on the left hind, so has some scar tissue. We believe he has nerve damage, but there is no way of really knowing. He's quite the character and we love him to bits. He's a keeper for sure!

  • @vtcurlies He is such a good looking fella! Can I ask why his tail is so short? Did you just cut it or is there another reason? xxx

  • Aww well he sure doesn't look neglected now! He looks fabulous :) Glad to hear he's doing well

  • I'm so glad you posted all these vids of his progression! I have a mare who developed this and it wasn't ever as bad as where Red started...this gives me much hope. Thanks for mentioning your treatments too! So glad he's moving as he is :) Is he 100% now?

  • Hi I have a pony with strinhalt, I think. He does exactly the same thing with his back leg. He does it about twice in a 14 min. period. Please tell me what the best diet would be to give him? Should he be ridden? Is he in pain? What causes this? He's a welsh pony 13.2hh. The lady I purchased him from says she has no knowledge of the problem. I have vet coming in about a week. But after watching your video I just knew I had to make contact with you. Please help?
