Yao Wei and Dawid Kupinski - Bournonville Festilv 2005 Excerpt from the first tableau of THE KERMESSE IN BRUGES (1851) Choreography: August Bournonville Music: H.S. Paulli (1810-1891) Stage and Costume Design: Rikke Juellund Staging: Lloyd Riggins
years ago in the early 80's new york city ballet's peter martin had a bournonville special aired on pbs featuring ibe andersen, heilgi thomason, heather watts, darci kistler etc. it is a wonderful production but it just seems to disappear in thin air
Lovely video, with great dancing,I even love the way the Cymbalist was made to work for his wages.Sadly though I do have a complaint against the Royal Danish Ballet ? just WHY is it impossible (almost) to buy any Video's of their spectacular ballets in the UK,my total is only three-should be thirty.
By the way who was the oddball that gave a Thumbs down to this, obviously lacking in Taste.

I really love danish system's strong strong emphasis on footwork, absolutely stunning and elegant.

I actually like Kermesse a lot and wish they performed it outside Denmark more often.
