  • At 3:23....Mike Bragg ?? He was the punter, and Kurt Knight was the place kicker. Wonder why Knigh is'nt kicking.

  • Respond to this video... Mark Mosely became the Redskins regular kicker in 1974. Kurt Knights last season in the NFL was 1973. Mosely was probably injured (I'm assuming) but I don't know for sure?

  • key play to this game is at 7:46, when center len hauss makes a blocking mistake, running back to look for someone to take, while the great merlin olsen comes charging up the middle, smashing sonny's face as he is releasing the pass. sonny later said that larry brown was wide open and probably would have scored if the pass had been released without merlin's hit.

Great observation, very true. Ironically, something very similar also happened in Superbowl V. In that game, Glenn Ressler did a bit of a spin around like Hauss, except he was able to put a block on the hard charging Jethro Pugh. If Ressler does'nt make the block, Unitas would have been sacked and the 75 yard TD pass to Mackey never would have happened. It's here on Youtube, if you ever get a chance.

Alright , thank you. Just happen to come across your reply. Though Knight may still have been with the Redskins in 74'. Just never knew Bragg also kicked.

  • This game really was the beginning of the end for George Allen.

  • Sonny Jurgenson played in this ,his last nfl game. Sadly,he went 6-12,for 78 yds

    but threw 3 interceptions.

  • @CGSuddeath Yeah, it was 14 - 10. They lost in Minnesota.

  • @Jiltedin2007 No the lost 14 -10 and it was the result of lousy officiating

  • The Rams won this game 19-10. And in the following week, they lost the NFC Championship Game to the Vikings in Freezing Cold Minnesota, 14-7.

  • when george allen forced sonny into retirement later that spring, it came out in the papers that a couple of redskin players complained after the playoff loss to the rams that allen should have started sonny in the game. that's also why billy kilmer demanded a trade afterwards. so it looks like allen canned sonny to end the internal rifts on the team -- even though sonny and billy were and remain great friends.

During the 70's, it was the only Superbowl I missed. I live in Miami FL. and the game was blacked out here. Heard it on radio..and then saw the highlights.

There where countless turnovers. The Colts played very similar to the way they did in SB III the difference was that the Cowboys matched them...mistake for mistake. All of the Colts points came as a result of tipped passes ( directly or indirectly) They where very lucky to somehow come out with a win.

  • @6400az i remember watching this game, but the details elude me now. i do recall it was rather boring, however, with poor execution from both teams.
