News about the Big Three automakers is dominating headlines these days, and very soon Congress will make major decisions about the proposed auto industry bailout. However, many are distracting our nation's leaders from a prime area of impact for the auto industry: the auto dealers' floor plans. Before Congress makes this huge decision, they need to look in the right place to fix the problem.

Certainly there is better value in buying used cars. This is not just a new car initiative, however. Dealers floorplan used cars too and many dealers sell more used cars than new. The

point is that this effects all dealers no matter what kind of cars they sell.

even if the North american Auto Industry tanks, some of the other manufacturers will buy up[ the old factories. The dealers should've seen this coming since the 1980's. This is just a deja vues moment.

linagee: Where do you find such facts? I guess you've just not dealt with the correct new car dealer in the past. New vehicle sales drive the U.S. economy and you should do more homework before posting such a negative and uninformed comment.

It doesn't have anything to do with people being suckers. It has to do with HOW many people this effects. My father has owned an upholstering business since 1979 and he does a lot of business with the used car side of car dealerships. He is not a "slimy" car dealer but he is a small business owner that employees about 10 people. You have to look beyond the car dealers.
