At least St. Helens had some character back then till the Council vandalised the Town Centre in 1974, and re-vandalised it twice since then. Its just a shit hole now.

@andy4248 Well andy,to my knowledge woolybacks were the men that loaded wool onto the ships in liverpool docks.Therefore us being called wools by scousers is a complete head scratcher,for they are the wooleybacks in truth.Anyways lots of them head down the east lancs to live here so it least we can re-educate em.

@crispee78 No, from Prescot (pron: Preskit) down the road. As a teenager St H became OK for its pubs, cinemas etc and we could walk (stagger) home if we missed the last trolley bus.
