Yuka Seka (Dry Cassava/without seasoning) is a musical project from Guantánamo, Cuba, nourished by the sounds of the Jaibo River, the largest river in the Guantánamo valley area. This highly danceable music that band leader Pablo Moya has brought to New York has its origins in the traditional style of Changuí de Lajas (a kind of dance). It comes from the municipality of Tiguabo, where the Jaibo River starts and the former Central Soledad, a sugar mill area, where he was born.

Tres player Pablo Moya began his extensive music education in Cuba, where he studied saxophone, bass, and guitar. He also taught at Universidad Guillermo Moncada in Santiago, Cuba. Pablo has played with many bands and orchestras, including Ochún, Yuka Seka, Ola Fresca and Cuba Libre just to name a few. He performed in the recent Off-Broadway production of Celia, the musical tribute to Celia Cruz. He was also the creative director of Los Karachi, the first group ever to use 4 trombones.

Please join us at Amor Cubano in historic Spanish Harlem for the music of Yuka Seka each and every Sunday evening.
