This is one of several video clips I am doing for my travel blog -- this particular episode is the Indian mounds in the Tampa Bay area. The Tocobaga Indians are now extinct but we have a good picture of their daily life from the middens, the piles of shells and trash they left behind, as well as the more elaborate mounds they made for their temples, chiefs and shamans. The Safety harbor mound, located on the lovely grounds of Phillipe Park, is thought to be the largest of the Tocobaga Indian mounds. When you stand on the mound it is hard to realize that the sand and soiul was carried to the site a basketful at a time.
