Read the title :) She's funny, she hates the water and barks because she can't get to me.

  • I have 2 Italian Greyhounds, and I take them off leash in the park every night. They just have to be trained, like any other dog. I think in order for a dog to be healthy, he/she needs to be able to run and be a dog! :)

  • hmmm I have an Iggy and a Lab, and she goes running in the woods around our house and does not go to far, always checks to see if she can still see us, sometimes chases the kangaroos but always comes back, I think she to chicken to go to far, i think it how you bring them up as far as them just running away??

  • A owner allowing their dog to be off leash doesn't make them a bad owner. That is a rude thing to say.

  • @feelthejoy Dear friends,

Don't follow at all what vet's and certain breeders says. The first 3 -4 months of life of the little IGs are extremely important for her psychology. They are the months where they learn and get familiar with noises, water, other dogs, and walking just free. They are so smart and calm, very in love with the owner. The vet says puppies has to be indoors 4 months, that's crazy! they will be shy for sure!THe pups has to be out since for ever,I did with our IG and they do great.

  • exactly :]

  • thats not true, i have an IG and she dosent need a leash and she is still living. it just depends on the individual dog .

  • I never said it was ok. I was just stating that it is common. My greys have never been off leash unless at the dog park or my back yard.

  • Doesn't make it okay. Regretfully, many IGs allowed off leash end up dead. I love my dog more than that.

  • Unfortunately it is pretty common....

  • An IG is not a lab. Every responsible breeder, rescue rep, etc will tell you: NEVER off leash in an unenclosed area. It only takes one time. Training cannot override centuries of breeding and instinct.

  • wow i would love to do this with my iggy, but have always been adamantly told by breeders and vets to never let any sighthound off-leash in the open
