On Saturday April 19th at the 63rd Annual Del Mar National Horse Show in Del Mar, California we were entertained by Carol Mercer and her Dancing Morgans which have been a team for 10 years. These registered Morgan mares work for a living on Carol's ranch in Oregon, where they gather and sort cattle, pull the hay wagon, & participate in wedding ceremonies.
Valentine is the leader. Bobbie is ridden. Carol & her nares love to dance. When they begin to dance. the mares' grace becomes Carol's grace, the mares' strenght become Carol's strength.

  • Id be far more impressed if she were able to that without bits and whips. To train a horse with no cruel aids is TRUE horsemanship. Any fool can force a horse to perfom through pain and punishment.

  • This message came from Caole, she wanted me to pass this message onto you:

"I am always willing to learn something. Jump right up here on my horses and show me what you can do with horses. I don't use whips and bits as punishment...The whip is a fishing pole and the bits are very mild. I reward with praise. Show me what you know. I can always learn something. Dancing Morgans"

  • Oh Lordy...another Parelli follower...I believe Carol did a wonderful job at training these horses. Bits are not harsh unless the hands that control them are. "Whips" are an extension of your arm if you know how to use them properly. These horses didn't look distressed in anyway. The rider had their complete attention. Good job to you Carol! I believe you are my new role model!!!

  • are those morgans???? i have a 2007 buckskin reg. morgan filly and a 2000 sorrel reg morgan mare

  • I think what Carole does is very impressive. She looks beautiful as do her horses!! I also think it takes alot of practice, patience and talent to do this, she just makes it look easy!!

  • hello our Auntie Carole!
