Brian, in a pinch, your axe is a reasonable choice as a weapon. It does less damage than a sword, but more damage than a pickaxe, shovel, fist, or block. If your sword breaks in the middle of a fight, I suggest getting your axe out.

Zombies new AI is scary. I downloaded the latest snapshot and the Zombies walked around every thing without hesitation

Hey Brian! Just so ya know, water can be used to take out cobwebs in a pinch. Doesn't eat up sword durability. Just a little messier! :)

Those big dirt floor rooms in the center of the Abandoned Mineshafts which you call "Boss Rooms" are actually the starting points from which the terrain generation generates the mineshafts. The more you know :)
