More 8 million Americans are now getting Medicare through private insurance companies. But are these private health providers really beneficial to senior citizens? Armen Keteyian investigates. (CBSNews.com)
The Medicare Advantage program was a badly designed because of the "Doughnut Hole" . And that it was paid for by borrowing 500B$ and putting that money on the National Debt Card. To pay for it.
Ultimately, what it is is a private health insurance system that costs 10Xs as much as govt insurers overhead and a healthcare system that relies on 50% of all their costs being covered by the big bad govt. if so-called PRIVATE INSURERS want to take that free money but continue to deliver poorer services than they don't deserve the money. the ultimate problem in that modern health insurers run business based on the modern business model of get rich quick CEO bonuses and the 'customer" be damned.
if healthcare is privatized, then every healthcare thing (including insurance) will have to compete. competition leads to lower prices and better coverage/quality because companies want to attract customers. auto insurance has major competition right now, and there's no crisis of auto insurance being too high. given, health insurance might cost more, but the thing is that competition reduces prices, meaning the PEOPLE benefit, not just "greedy" corporations.

Make prices transparent.
Then everything will start resembling a real market just like everything else in America.
Prices will come down with competition.
