The Eden Prairie Fire Department looks to defend it's title inn the third annual firefighters hockey Challenge this Saturday at Deephaven Village park ice rink in Deephaven.

Ep will face off against teams representing departments Plymouth, Bloomington, Fridley Chanhassen, Excelsior and and the North Star Women Firefighters Association.

The four on four tourney is played without goalies. It starts at one and goes until a champion is decided, at approximately six.

Renee Roden, a 15-year-old actress from Eden Prairie, has a role in a new play by St. Paul playwright Jeannine Coulombe.

"Planting Shelly Anne" is a story of an average family on the verge of disaster, where the epic and mundane collide, "straddling a world we recognize and a world out of control," according to Coulombe.

Roden said her character is based on a teenager who loves her mother and wants to stay connected, but also wants to explore and experience life on her own terms.

Coulombe explained that she had a choice when casting the role - pick someone older and well-trained to play a 15-year-old or pick a real angsty, energetic teenager. She handpicked Roden, who's been acting since she was 10, after seeing her perform at Stages Theater in Hopkins.

"Planting Shelly Anne" opens this Tomorrow night at 8 p.m. at the Playwright Center on Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis and runs through Feb. 14.

A city-wide treasure hunt sponsored by Dunn Bros. and the City of Eden Prairie starts Sunday. Similar to the medallion hunt in St. Paul, the treasure hunt runs Feb. 1-7, or until Sheldon's Smith's lost wrench is found.

A new clue will be posted in Dunn Bros. West in the Smith-Doughlas-More House on Eden Prairie Road at four p.m. daily. Clues will reference Eden Prairie history and clues from the previous day will be posted on the Dunn Bros. website. I will do my best to keep you updated with this webcast.

The winner gets a $150 Dunn Bros. gift card, and 25 smaller gift cards will be hidden in city parks that can be redeemed for free drinks.
