H1s are meant for desert terrain (i.e. Iraq), not hills, rocks, mud. That's why they are being discontinued by the military in favor of a vehicle that can climb the harsh terrain of Afghanistan.

First off, the H1 has far more horsepower and torque than a jeep. I believe approx 300hp at 500 ft/lbs of torque at a low rpm range (stock) , but sucks off road compared to a jeep because its too heavy. Second, every jeep you see outperform a hummer offroad is a civilian jeep, usually second hand. So arguing that the hummer is not military is pointless, because the jeep isnt either. Jeeps are lighter, more durable, reliable, and completly customizable.
