Very few people will have gone off the beaten track to explore this upland burn There is a track nearby that has a handful of users a week though none will ever venture along the stream bed. For ten years a hobby of mine was collecting, examining with the microscope and identifying and learning about freshwater algae, so this type of location is very familiar to me. We are here in a gorge, yet in a third of a mile it opens out into an open upland burn the origin of which has an ancient stone circle several thousand years old.
