  • Kauffman get's better and better!I mean these are most recent videos and he never sang better.Does anyone knows somethig about his chest operation?

  • @aragorn13308 he's had several recitals since the surgery and he looks and sounds well from the reviews I've read...I think there are some videos or audio slideshows on YT from those recitals too.

  • but this video is extraoridnary even for Kaufman standards :)

  • he is UNDERrated.

  • How can you say Kaufmann is overrated?

He sounds very different from the ROH's or LaScala's Don Jose because this is at the Jussi Björling Gala Concert in Stockholm on Sept. 2, 2011. He changes his way of singing depending on the place, occasion, and his partner. That's what makes him so intriguing and fascinating. Always his intelligence shines. This was also immediately before his operation.

  • The conducting is plodding, which makes the singers work harder than they should . Dalayman's versatility always impresses, and how many sopranos can be convincing in this part. Kaufmann is our current go-to Don Jose, though both singers could be a little more pointed in their use of the French language. Both manage this scene very well.

  • @karenpat85 Thank you very much for the information.I'm from medical branch so i got a litle bit concerned after hearing abouth him haveing a chest surgery.Thank's!

  • She is too croaky and a little too vulgar for the role, but nevertheless she has certain fitting qualities. Kaufmann is a little bit overrated, I think.

  • @me148: Dalayman "live" is a a sublime, enormous voice. Don't judge through the "youtube" sound, and its fastfood standards...
