Sorry guys AKC DOESN’T put across that purebreds are better PLEASE, (I show dogs, I also have mutss) and every year I see PETA there I’d LOVE to hold up a sign that said “having babies kills shelter kids chances” that’s what it amounts to. Good breeders are the REASON you have breed club rescues! They LOVE their breeds and all dogs and help in any way they can, AKC is just a registry, Get your facts right before you tell this young man he is wrong. Many of the Westminster qualifiers have mutts.

Also, Jacob, I'd love it if you googled "6 Myths about Shelter Dogs" and "statistics about unwanted dogs in usa". These google searches will lead you to great articles that will help you learn about the sad fact that millions (not thousands) of dogs are euthanized in our country each year. Then, I think you will see why I am sympathetic to PETA's criticism of breeders & the "purebred = better" message the AKC offers to the American people. P.S. You're awesome and good luck in the future! :)

Jacob: I agree that using the KKK wasn't right. However, have you thought about what the underlying message could be? Why do you think breeding might be an issue? Could the message that purebreds are better than other dogs be harmful to the many unwanted pets in shelters? How so? To Jacob's mom: I like this video, I just hope that you help Jacob think a bit more critically about the issue of breeding dogs and buying a dog from a breeder. There is more to it than the KKK = AKC analogy.

I agree with you though, PETA tried to compare somthing evil like the KKK to a dog show...but in the end it reflects on them and makes them look bad.
