Former Governor of New York Eliot Spitzer comments on his infamous resignation and offers advice to aspiring politicians.

-----

As the former attorney general and later governor of New York, Spitzer prosecuted some of the most notorious white-collar crime and securities fraud on Wall Street. He now questions whether we have what it takes to regulate and reform the banking industry.

Does "too big to fail" mean too big? Without successful financial regulatory reform, are we just waiting for the next economic meltdown? Spitzer will examine whether the Obama administration is up to the task or whether taxpayers may be on the hook for the next crisis. - Commonwealth Club of California

Eliot Laurence Spitzer is an American lawyer, politician and the former Governor of New York. Spitzer was elected governor in the November 2006 election. He is the former New York State Attorney General, a member of the Democratic Party, and is married to Silda Wall Spitzer, the founder and chair of Children for Children, a non-profit organization.

  • His flaw is that he was on the forefront of criminalizing prostitution and ruining peoples lives, and at the same time being a hypocrite and partaking in what prostitutes had to offer. CLASSIC crooked politician!

  • I'd happily take a politician who pays for prostitutes, beats off to anime porn and has pierced nipples if he was as smart, direct and bulldoggish on bankers as Spitzer was. Any day.

  • Be Smarter Than I Was, be more sneaky )

  • state politicians have the best job in the country. you makes secret deals with corporations and the rich to pay for your campain then you run all by tellings lies to the people "faking you care" once elected to office you get paid and pass special laws to help the corps and the rich. then you cut the budget for the poor and raise the tax on the poor. then you go on long vacation paid by the corp's. damn what a life

  • Eliot Spitzer's views on politics are universal but culturally structured. It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.

  • Where the money meets the rubber of the Jesus/Jew road in America and IN GOD WE TRUST printed on our money and religion....we are gonna need a boatload of prophylactics to bounce back from this bubble of mess. I'd take Spitzer any day of the week also.

The Wall Streeters were in on exposing Elliot (Ness) Spitzer's passions /lusiness because he was exposing them for what they are. A bunch of money hungry Goldmen (as in Sachs) intent on screwing/abandoning a whole country.

  • agree and funny

but he's right in this way a cynic is someone who gives up rather than someone who takes action

    any action

  • I like Spitzer. It's a damned shame about his stray dick problem, especially considering that he's one of the better ones. ;\

I have to disagree on one thing though: Politics is a noble endeavor like nose-picking is an Olympic sport; NOT SO sir, not so.

  • getting into politics is not a nobel endeavor. Its a terrible career choice and is an endeavor that generally attracts the worst type of people.
