I'm surprised that Vincent Danzicourt (Philippe Ferronaire's brother-in-law) bothered to avenge Marie's rape since his sister was vexed abt Philippe's other family. Anne Bella's distress must have pricked his conscience, even though there isn't scene abt that. Guess I have to read the book for further insight.

I had no idea that Bianca Lawson (aka Maya in Pretty Little Liars) was in this show. Her role as Anna Bella is fanastic. Based on this show, she will definitely make a better mother than Cecile, who's mentally stuck in her delusions of 'grandeur'. Had Cecile been kinder to Lisette, this wicked incident with Marie would have been avoided.

@ScottLoyed Right, the plantations were out in the country and the whites pretended not to be aware of what happened in the city. But essentially as previously stated, this family were just glorified slaves per se, but everything was a business arrangement and any transactions went thru the local attorney/notary. He had all the relationships on file, their names where registered in the local parish/church when they were born.
