Actually, i don't think that the alternate costumes for characters(Grizabella, Deutoronomy, etc.) are supposed to mean anything. They are simply trying to use the actors(because more voices and bodies is always a good thing) but not have them stand out. And in the movie there are two asparaguses(asparagi?) because the actor who played gus was too old to be jumping around and whatnot. There is absolutely no indication of time travel in this. Ever.
@ alguienPLC: I've seen this musical three times, and still don't thouroughly understand it. You should rent it, it's amazing! The music is purely brilliant! And the story is soooo good, when you understand. They're basically a group of cats who are meeting to find out which one gets to go to the "new life".
