Romanesque refers to a period in art in Northern regions of Europe that were "Roman" inspired, however they were pre-gothic to high Gothic . 900-1200A.D., much before the Renaissance, which David is clearly a product of.
No David was an Isrealite. No links to Rome at all. Although Michelangelo was in a bit of trouble after completion when everyone noticed David had a forskin. But I believe he blagged his way out of that one.
@ChoctawCreek My point is that this sculpture is typically renaissance. Or maybe say that it looks like somthing made in antiguity. Romanesque, yes the term refers to something "roman lke", but the actual style in art history is quite different in sculpture.
Only Michelangelo's could do this.
