So he should have left and in doing so make sure nobody ever heard of the war/genocide or save 30 000 people? If it wasn't for him, we would not even be talking about this because their would be no record of the events since all the embassies emptied and the UN wanted to pull out. Also, I can't even begin to tell you how wrong you are about accusing him of shooting down Habyarimana's plane. But I won't delete your comment because it is a testament to disinformation.

Romeo Dallaire has been a great inspiration for me, a man who never gave up trying to save as many as he could from the Hutu government at time. We may never understand how horrible it was to be in Rwanda at that time but he saw through it and lived to tell the tale. While he may not admit it, he'll always be a hero in my book.

the 'colonizers' took advantage of a hate (Tutsi vs Hutu) that already existed....it's the oldest trick in the book....divide and conquer.

The borders within wich Rwanda was created we're imposed by white colonists (Germans) when they regrouped part of the hutus, tutsis and twa's within one state. After WW1, the Belgians established a system of classes that never existed. So in essence, yeah the old european powers are partly to blame for starting a fire and permitting it to consume everything.

I was in east africa last summer and visited Rwanda. It is very clean and the economy is picking up. Kigali is actually a very modern city with skyscrapers and more in construction. I strongly encourage you to go visit. There is alot of hope for the entire region, even though DRC is still lagging behind.

It massacred the whites and has the audacity to blame white nations for their lack of involvement....typical TNB....just like what happened to Rhodesia.

No different than any other African nation that was colonized by whites. The former Belgian colony had become bankrupt and one by one investors fled. The only source of income was hotels and tourism. After the genocide, tourism literally stopped. I'm not sure what the current state of it is, but I'm sure that it looks no different than the rest of the Dark Continent.

After the first World War, Rwanda sought independence through genocide. They butchered the whites and raped the Belgian women stationed there. It got so bad that the Belgians left Rwanda on its own. After that, the country slowly descended into chaos, and the two groups started an all out-war.

I also did research on Rwanda. It used to be a Belgian colony and the Belgians favoured the Tutsis over the Hutus because the former looked more human, while the latter more beastly. The Belgians established a monarchy and central government in the country and it soon became an economic powerhouse. Rwanda later became known as "The Switzerland of Africa" due to its strong economy and stability.
