  • hey, looks quite a bit funner than i imagined. i was given some exercises etc from ib physics by my teacher in gcse just to see how it was, and it had very little in the way of theoretical aspects and much more to do with problem solving and maths in general. what is the question paper like, knowledge or mathematical ability? thanks

  • @ChRIs23696 One clearly needs some decent maths skills for the IB physics course. However, the course and the exams are focused on the conceptual understanding of physics. The course is not just manipulating equations and sticking in numbers in formulae. It requires a pretty good understanding of the subject. Just being good at Maths won't take too far. If you search a bit, you can find plenty of past exam papers on the Internet.

  • hey thanks for the video, really helped me.

I have two questions to ask, i am currently about to start my IB progam and i have taken HL physics. i want to know what are the requirments and what i need to do to help me come out with a good grade for HL physics, and Is it also cumpulsory to take HL maths ?

    thank you

  • @devaworld Hi there. Last question first: you have to do 3 subjects at Higher Level. Maths does not have you be one of them (You can do Math at SL or Maths Studies SL if your school offers this option). First question: hard to answer - use a couple of good textbooks - any books. There are a few specially designed for the IB physics programme - I'll just give you the authors, you'll have to do the search: (a) P. Ruth / G. Kerr (b) A. Tsokos (c) C. Hamper and there is a revision guide by T. Kirk.

  • @devaworld (continued) In addition, I think that one of the keys to success in HL physics is individual study. Go through the material in great detail, make sure YOU understand most of it, review as many examples as you can and do a lot of questions from past papers. Another key tool is the IB Physics guidebook which contains the details of the syllabus. Good luck with your studies.

  • thankyou so much for your videos. they are so much help, especially when your current teacher is totally new to IB ( this scares me a little, especially when your teacher cant even solve his own problems).

  • @ibphysicshelp Thank you very much for your advise, this was really heplful.I will consult to you if i hav any further questions.

    thank you

  • This is incredible.
