Johnny Flynn performs two songs live at The Lady : A Tribute To Sandy Denny concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on 1 December 2008.
Johnny performs Stranger To Himself and It'll Take A Long Time.
2008 marked the 30th anniversary of the death of Sandy Denny. To perform her songs, the organisers selected not only her contemporaries and musicians that had worked with her in Fairport Convention and Fotheringay, but many young artists described as "admirers" of Sandy Denny, including Johnny.
By including a new generation of folk artists, the organisers hoped to bring the music of Sandy Denny to a new audience; it worked for me, I now own three Sandy Denny albums!
It is in that spirit that I upload this clip. Anyone who has found this by searching for Johnny Flynn should really take the time to check out some Sandy Denny - and Sandy Denny fans would do well to have a listen to Johnny's album A Larum I think they'd like what they hear!
Sandy Denny's original version of It'll Take A Long Time and the demo version of Stranger To Himself can both be found on the excellent No More Sad Refrains : The Anthology compilation.

This was a great gig, and a fitting tribute to Sandy. There's a clip of Marc Almond's performance elsewhere on YouTube. Anyone else got any footage from that night?
One of the best events I've been to. It was great to see so many young and very different performers singing the songs of the great Sandy Denny, surely the best British female singer of the last 50 years.
I could see the occasional camera from my inferior seat Rog, so perhaps more will appear on YouTube soon. There is already a clip of Marc Almond performing All Our Days.
Personally, I would like to see clips of Jim Moray performing Matty Groves & Dave Swarbrick's Suits Me Well - the two highlights of the show for me (besides Johnny Flynn, of course).

I think not.
Shame, hopefully more will surface
The soundtrack recording is doing the rounds - and well worth a listen
Do you have any more footage?
BTW we had considerably better seats than yow! :)
