Images of guns or knives being held against another person's body are not allowed to be shown on Thai TV.
Hostage situations are a "traditional" crime in Thailand. They take place when someone who is either distraught from losing their job, has gambling debts, or is high on drugs grabs an innocent passerby and holds them hostage--usually with a knife to the throat. Such incidents are high drama and are widely broadcast on TV and shown in newspapers.
When such an incident is portrayed on a TV show, it is blurred out as in this clip from American Dad shown on local cable operator True (formerly UBC).

It seems kind of silly... not the law, but the blurring. Isn't it obvious what is going on? When a face is blurred on TV is it to prevent recognition. When nudity is blurred it is to prevent body parts from being visible. But this sort of thing is conveying an action / situation to people, and blurring it out doesn't have any effect in lessening that... at least, I don't see how it could *shrugs*
