She is the founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund, now celebrating its thirty-fifth anniversary. The organization works to lift children out of poverty, protect them from abuse, and ensure access to healthcare and education. This video says that in 1964 one in seven (1 in 7) people were poor Today 2010 still 1 in 7 are poor Why is that?? BECAUSE The Federal Government sets the `Poverty line` at 14% Yes that is right the government decides who is poor and who is not simply by a computer assessing your income and if it in the lower 14% you are poor If you had your income in INDIA you would be rich BTW 14% is 1/7 or one in seven 50 years from now 1 in 7 will still be poor how can a starving child be FAT
