St. Sebastian's Church Ayarkunnam

St. Sebastian's Church at Ayarkunnam, which is the spiritual center of Ayarakunnam village, was established in 1885. The then Asst. Parish priest of the old Punnathura Church Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kudakasseryil took up the task of establishing a new church realizing the need of upholding the spiritual life of the faithful by bifurcating from the old Punnathura Church, which is the mother church, and establishing a new one at a convenient place. The church construction was started on 20th of Makaram 1885 (as per Malayalam calendar). The financial support was received from the old Punnathura church. The first Holy Mass was celebrated on Nov. 20, 1885. Nariveli church was the shrine of the old Punnathura church from 1885 to 1899. The activities at Nariveli church was looked after by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kudakasseryil. Nariveli church in the position of a full-fledged church is found in the panchangam (calendar) of 1899. Rev. Fr. Thomas Mannanal was the first parish priest.
The histories of all the priests who worked in this parish for the spiritual, material and cultural development of this parish have become the part of history of this parish.
