The movie and its message was way ahead of its time. I think we are still uncomfortable with the questions it poses. Its a masterpiece.

Yes, Kamal was the director too ! A master piece for sure. Not many actually understands what was communicated through the movie. A lot of them think it's anti-gandhi sentiments which is so inaccurate ! Directorial brilliance !

for people who dont know what kamal thinks of gandhi and what he wanted convey through this film, here are his words
"with all the flaws a worst critic has to offer, out of which stands a man- the mahatma- that I respect a lot; and that's why i made Hey Ram. It's my way of offering apologies to this truly great Indian"
