  • Well done... I just purchased a Vitus 979 frame from ebay and I'm looking forward to building it up. Other people are using a modern 130mm spaced rear hub without a problem on this frame. I will let you know how it works for me. Thanks Frank

  • Yeah, I was told that it had been pushed to 130mm spacing, but that it could cause some rub with the chain.. Let me know how it goes! It's a great frame! I love the ride it gives.

  • Well the mileage on my new Vitus is starting to add up and overall Im very impressed with the bike. Im convinced that this bike rides as well as my very expensive carbon fiber bike especially on the flats. When it comes to the hills the other bike certainly has some advantages but then again it should since it costs five times as much. Im not having any issues with the 130mm spacing on the rear Im using a Dura Ace 10 speed with Dura Ace down tube shifters. Cheers...

  • That's awesome! Yeah, I get a bit of creaking sometimes when I'm standing, powering up a steep section, but other than that, mine's a great ride too. I'm glad yours is working out so well for you! Maybe if I upgrade again, I'll go with 130mm spacing.

Excellent presentation of your bike, CR. I'm proud of you

  • Thanks, Thomas! Actually, I just got an endorsement from National Kidney Foundation, AND they're going to get in touch with some of their cyclists from Transplant Games and see if we can form a team!

  • You and me both; I have a long ways to go with my conditioning. Im also trying to learn more about nutrition so I can get the most out of my training rides. Upgrading to 10 speeds is nice but not a must. Spending lots of time on the bike is a must.

  • From what I read, people were having issues with the crank rubbing against the chain stays when using a 130mm hub. Once again, I will let you know how it works out for me. Frank

  • Hi Belinda,

    nice bike!

    Take care

  • Thanks, Moosie! It's great! It's certainly an improvement on what it was before. The gearing was all wrong for this terrain before.
