This is Part 1 of a 3 part series of The Demo scene covering the Atari 8-Bit Computers, The Atari ST and the Commodore Amiga Demo Scene, allot of people will remember theses fondly as much as I do, so sit back and enjoy the show.. In part 2 I delve into the the wonders of the Atari ST Demo scene, it's gonna be hard choosing which ones to include!..all the best ;) Flashback Gamer!

  • I was member of the High-Tech Team, and my name is Stormtrooper of Death. Very well done. Maybe you could make a youtube video of 10 hours of more, to give the best demo teams on the Atari 8bit, of the past, present and the future, a change to show themselve to the worldwide public. Well done, greetings from an Atarian!

  • @RichardCyberPunk

Thanx for the comments, I really enjoyed making this one, but I don't think You Tube would allow 10 hrs , I would love to seen a up to date scene release of the making of the demo scene, especially the older machines, but logistically this would be near impossible to do, as most coders are in north of Europe Poland etc.. but if you any links to new Atari 8bit demos, I might do a remake special :)

  • "Vengeance" was created circa 1997 - check out atariki or pouet.

  • @MrBopomofo , Thanx for the heads up, i didn't know that. and with the video now 8 months old, I can't change it, thanx for keeping in the time line for me ;)

  • glad you liked m8...many more on the way :)

  • The graphics engine for the Atari 8-bit computers was developed back in 1977, just a few months after the Atari 2600 came out. They really overdid themselves. It could still hold its own ten years later.

  • "boing demo (1985) to contray(sic) belief everyone prosumes(sic) this bounching(sic) ball demo started out on the amiga, but atari did it first :)" - LOL

  • Very nice video but you missed lots of good demos from Polish Atari Demoscene :(

  • @e1doller at 1:39 I can only see the Atari logo with typical Atari Rainbow effect. It simply changing a color register every scanline (on Amiga you woul duse the copped to do that).

  • Excellent.

  • I like too the 8-bit sound... Thank you.

  • any chance anyone knows the effect used at 1:39 i know in an amiga and later atari's you could use blitter, but how did they do it on 8-bit machines?

  • 07:03 OMG Dire Straits lol awesome! :D

Gotta try that demo at 06:24 on my 65XE, I guess it will need RAM expansion (mine one has 130XE motherboard with only half or RAM inside, so I think it will be easy), but it just looks so incredible and awesome! Something like you could expect from SNES Mode 7 :D
